On October 30, 2018, the UNDERTALE account was made all black and began cryptically teasing a new project. On October 31, this project was released, which was "SURVEY_PROGRAM". A game that at the end, revealed itself as "DELTARUNE", an alternate world to UNDERTALE that is significantly larger in scope, and is intended to be released over time in chapters.

Temmie Chang Releases "Escaped Chasm" with Toby Fox as Composer

Pokemon series developer Game Freak reveals "Little Town Hero" with Toby Fox as composer

Toby Fox is announced as a guest composer for Pokemon Sword and Shield
November 8, 2019
On November 8, 2019, The Pokemon Company announced that Toby Fox would be a guest composer for the then-upcoming latest entry in Pokemon Sword and Shield. In Toby's recounting, he states that he had noticed that Go Ichinose, one of the primary composers of the series, had followed him on Twitter. After messaging them, they became friends. During a visit to a cafe, Toby asked if he could make a song for Pokemon, and they accepted. The song appears as the boss music for the "Battle Tower" area.
DELTARUNE Chapter 2 is announced as a free release

On September 15, 2021, during the livestreamed UNDERTALE anniversary event titled "UNDERTALE 6th Anniversary So We Play DELTARUNE Chapter 1 For Some Reason", at the very end of the broadcast, a surprise announcement of DELTARUNE Chapter 2 is made as a free release, releasing 2 days later on September 17, 2021.
In his remarks about the announcement, Toby stated that Chapter 2 was intended to be part of an eventual planned release with all chapters finished, but decided to release it for free, stating that "The world has been really tough for everybody recently." and that "it's hard both for creators and fans to go a long time without a release"
Toby Fox is announced as composer for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

In the first issue of the UNDERTALE/DELTARUNE newsletter, sent to fans via email list, Toby Fox confirms that he participated in the development of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet as a composer. This time, he created multiple tracks, a significant step up from his previous role as guest composer. His contributions include "Battle! Zero Lab" which is the game's final boss music, and "Academy" which became the field music for the entire game.

On June 17, 2023, the episode "Polly's New Crew" of the Cartoon Network series "We Baby Bears", a spinoff of "We Bear Bears", was aired on television. In it, Toby Fox guest stars as a nervous pirate skeleton named "Jared". The lines were recorded remotely by Fox in Japan.

On April 2, 2025, Nintendo held a special edition of it's Nintendo Direct broadcast, focusing on details for it's new console, the Nintendo Switch 2. As part of the games revealed, DELTARUNE Chapters 3 and 4 were announced as a launch title for the Nintendo Switch 2, packaged with Chapters 1 and 2 as a paid release, and containing exclusive content on the Nintendo Switch 2 that take advantage of the console's features.
